Theatrical jewellery for Maria Stuart

In 2009 I was asked to make the jewelry for a production of Schiller’s “Maria Stuart” at the Malmö Stadsteater (The Malmö City Theatre). There were dozens of pieces to be made, from spectacular headpieces for Queen Elizabeth, down to little details on gowns, rosaries and more. It was an amazing challenge and I had great fun working closely with the costume makers and production designers.

Here’s a slideshow with pictures of  the 16th century sources I had to work from, my finished pieces and what they looked like while I still worked on them. Enjoy!

BONUS: Here’s a little film clip  of the production – make sure you watch until the end to see the costumes and jewellery in all their glory.
