Right now I have this collar for sale in my Etsy shop. I call it a concept collar because it’s an experiment where I wanted to make something attractive to a contemporary audience but inspired by the historical collars inspired by German 16th century art you’ve might have seen me make before. Here’s a post about a more traditional one: Judith’s Collar
This collar is not made for everyday use, and it puts demands on it’s wearer. It fits someone with a neck measurement of 35cm or larger, but the real challenge it’s the height, it’s 5.5cm high, so one needs a longish neck to pull it off (longer than mine, as you will see in one of my photos further down. ;))
I believe someone working on stage, maybe a singer, would wear something like this, and maybe someone who is doing steampunk fashion or maybe a bride! I would actually love to make more jewelry for the stage, I enjoy the challenge of how to make something that really reaches the audience and enhances a performance.
The materials used are steel (it has some rusty spots that I allowed to stay there, I like the way it looks. I’ve treated the surface though, so it will not change color further), brass and beautiful czech vintage salmon colored crystal stones. It’s lined with brown cotton velvet. The pearls are beautiful 10-12mm freshwater pearls.
I’m really quite happy with how this turned out, and hopefully it will find it’s owner soon. Maybe the right owner is you! Take me to Etsy!
